Borough Council by-election date confirmed
A by-election for a seat on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council will be held on Thursday, 8 October.
The by-election for one of the seats in Town ward is being contested after the previous councillor stood down.
Nominations for people wanting to stand for election in the seat must be submitted before 4pm on Friday, 11 September.
The other borough councillor representing Town ward is Sheelagh Casey-Hulme. Cllr Casey-Hulme is unaffected by this and continues in her role.
Further information on standing as a council candidate can be found on the Electoral Commission website. Nomination forms and accompanying guidance are also available on the website or can be collected from the Elections Office at Castle House in Newcastle.
Completed nomination forms must be hand-delivered to the Returning Officer at Castle House, Barracks Road, Newcastle, ST5 1BL, between 10am and 4pm, and before 4pm on Friday, 11 September.
Candidates can call in advance on 01782 742249 to book an appointment to deliver their papers and have them informally checked before submission.
There are 44 seats on the authority. Including this vacancy, the current position is that Reform UK has 26 seats, Conservative 15 and Labour 2.
