By-election candidates confirmed
Five candidates are standing in a by-election for a seat on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.
The by-election for one of the seats in Town ward is being contested after the previous councillor stood down.
Voting will take place in the ward on Thursday, 8 October and ballots will be counted shortly after polling stations close at 10pm.
With one person to be elected to the borough council, the candidates are:
- Conna Douglas Eynon, of Gloucester Grange, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Conservative Party;
- Andrew Fox-Hewitt, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Labour & Co-operative Party;
- Adam Griffiths, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Reform UK;
- Morgan Inwood, of Mount Pleasant, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Liberal Democrats;
- Mark Allan Jones, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Green Party.
The other borough councillor representing Town ward is Sheelagh Casey-Hulme. Cllr Casey-Hulme is unaffected by this and continues in her role.
There are 44 seats on the authority. Including this vacancy, the current position is that Reform UK has 26 seats, Conservative 15 and Labour 2.
