Private water supplies

What types of supply are there?

There are three types of supply.

Regulation 8 supplies

If you own your property and get mains water, but do not pay the public undertaker for that water, this is a regulation 8 supply.

Regulation 9 supplies

These are those that draw a lot of water, or have a commercial element to them for example:

  • properties on the supply are rented

  • they provide water to the public

  • they use water in food production

Regulation 10 supplies

Covers all other supplies.
