Private water supplies

Fees and charges

We will charge to carry out our duties as the Private Water Supplies (England) Regulations 2016 allow. Fees are charged on a cost recovery basis and are applicable for:

  • officer time and associated mileage to carry out a risk assessment

  • officer time and associated mileage to carry out water quality sampling; there is also a one-off sample accreditation fee which is applied to routine sampling

  • officer time and associated mileage to carry out an investigation

  • laboratory fees

Our current charge out rates (applicable until April 2022) are:

  • officer time - £25.88 per hour

  • mileage - £0.56 per mile

  • UKAS accreditation fee - £25
