FIFA World Cup 2026 Advice
As you may be aware there are extensions available to some of the England and Scotland matches during the FIFA World Cup this year for premises which are licensed to sell alcohol on the premises up to 23:00hours on the days of the relevant matches. The Institute of Licensing along with other industry leaders has produced some guidance which can be found at World-Cup-2026-Guidance-final.pdf to help you to understand when you may benefit from an extension. There are however some matches which do not benefit from the extension and it will depend where England and Scotland place in their groups as to the route that they will take to the next matches. Below is a list of all the potential matches that they could play in and details of any extensions that apply. If you do not have a licence to sell alcohol on the premises or wish to open outside of these extensions then you will need to give a Temporary Event Notice or TEN. The usual deadlines apply so you will need to allow ten working days for a normal TEN or five for a late TEN not including the day of the match or the day of application. We are happy to help you with this so please contact licensing@newcastle-staffs.gov.uk as soon as possible if you are unsure.
