Sports Awards

Newcastle Sports Awards 2018 aims to help recognise the sporting achievements and outstanding contributions of teams and individuals throughout the borough during the past year.

Winners were honoured through the Newcastle Sports Awards during a special ceremony at Keele Hall on Wednesday 30 May 2018.

The awards evening is the culmination of the Borough’s Festival of Sport, which runs throughout April and May and is aimed at encouraging people to get involved in Newcastle’s wide range of sporting clubs’ events and activities.

The Winners and Runners up of the  Newcastle Sports Awards 2018 are as follows:

Junior Sports Man of the Year

Winner - Oliver Clarke (kickboxing)

Runner up - Harvey Jay Ault (cricket)

Junior Sports Woman of the Year

Winner - Seren Redmond (Netball)

Runner up - Jemma Dawson (Netball)

Senior Sports Man of the Year

Winner - Dan Robson (Rugby)

Senior Sports Woman of the Year

Winner - Emma Barlett (Water Polo)

Senior Sports Team of the Year

Winner - North Staffs Volleyball Club Mens First Team

Runner up - Newcastle Town Netball Club Regional Team

Junior Sports Team of the Year

Winner - Pejic Taekwondo Club

Runner up - Newcastle Town Netball Club under 12's

Special Achievement

Winner - Julie Tinsley (Netball)

Runner up - Alastair Padley ( Staffordshire Lads and dads)

Young Volunteer

Winner - Oliver Monkman (Football)

Runner up - Sian Davies (Netball)

Coach of the Year

Winner - Anthony Viggars (Volleyball)

Runner up - Gavin Appleby (Football)

Services to Sport

Winners - Jean Whitfield (Netball) and Theo Matthews (Taekwondo)
