Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act (the Act)

Under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act (the Act), a public authority is not required to provide information under Section 1 of the Act (the right to know), if that information is reasonably accessible to the applicant by other means. This is an absolute exemption under the Act.

Information on deaths without next of kin and/or public health funerals are available from the Treasury Solicitor's Department Bona Vacantia Division.

In addition, information relating to the date of birth and last known address of a deceased person are given on the death certificate. This information is accessible from the General Register Office.
