Postal vote opening

Postal Vote Opening Assistants are appointed by the Returning Officer.

What are the duties?

Postal Vote Opening Assistants are responsible for making sure that those who vote by post have completed the required information and included all the necessary documents in their postal vote pack returns for their ballot papers to go through to the count.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to apply as a Postal Vote Opening Assistant, you must:

  • be at least 16 years of age
  • be entitled to work in the UK (in accordance with the provisions of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996). We will need to see a valid passport or your birth certificate and proof of your National Insurance number to support this.
