Our workshops

Toys from the past - story world adventure (Reception and KS1)

Toys from the past

Inspired by the wonderful book ‘Major Glad, Major Dizzy’, magically travel back to Victorian times to help a little boy to find his lost toys. Explore the museum and meet characters along the way to help with the search.

This workshop uses drama to immerse children in the story throughout their visit:

  • find out about old toys from our museum collection
  • play with replica toys in our Victorian parlour
  • explore our toy gallery, Victorian street and cellar
  • design and make a toy to keep
