Self and custom build register

We are also consulting on changes to how we manage the self and custom build register in the borough. We are intrroducing changes to support the implementation of policy HOU6 of the Newcastle-under-Lyme local plan. This consultation closes on 25 September and further information can be found on the self and custom build pages.

Keele neighbourhood plan

Keele Parish Council submitted a neighbourhood plan proposal to us on 12 June. In accordance with the neccessary regulations, we have published the proposed Keele neighbourhood plan for a period of 8 weeks consultation from today until Monday 28 September 2026. The Newcastle-under-Lyme Local Plan (2020-2040) was adopted and now forms part of the development plan.

Cabinet resolved that work on the new Local Plan is not taken forward until the outcomes and implications of local government reorganisation (LGR) are known.
