Council Service Status

This page outlines the general status of services provided by Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council.

Any restrictions or limitations placed on services as part of national efforts to control the spread of Coronavirus and protect lives will be detailed here.

Customer Services

Website: Operating as normal

The Council's services can be accessed online.  Our search tool or A-Z of services can help you to find what you need on our website.

You can make general enquiries, request a variety of services and make payments online.  You can also manage your Council Tax account and all your dealings with Council services by registering for My Account

Services are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If you wish to contact the Council by telephone, you can ring 01782 717717.

Castle House: In person services are currently suspended

Bereavement Services

Cremations and Burials: Operating with restrictions

  • 20 People (maximum) may attend the Crematorium Chapel or Keele Cemetery Community Room.
  • 30 People (maximum) may attend graveside for a Coffin burial.
  • 15 People (maximum) may attend the burial of ashes.

Social distancing and hygiene information is displayed on-site and must be followed.

Services can be live-streamed if requested by the organiser or funeral director in advance.

Cemeteries: Limited access, open for burials and visiting only

Crematorium Grounds: Limited access, open for burials and visiting only 

Offices: Closed to the public

Jubilee 2: Closed

Children's Playgrounds: Operating as normal with Social Distancing guidance in place

Parks: Operating with some restrictions 

  • Sports pitches, tennis courts, ball courts and outdoor gyms are currently closed.
  • Social Distancing guidance is in place.

Allotments: Operating with some restrictions 

  • Allotment sites are operating as normal.
  • Plot Inspections are currently suspended.

Sports Pitches: Closed and not available for booking

Britain in Bloom: Suspended nationally
