The Cabinet
Cabinet member for Housing and Public Protection
Vanessa Renshaw, Cabinet member for Housing and Public Protection
I have a professional background in housing, homelessness and supported accommodation. In 2013, I founded and continue to lead a homelessness charity in Stoke-on-Trent, which provides supported accommodation and support services for vulnerable adults across the local area.
Over the years, I have worked across frontline housing and homelessness services, including within local government. I am passionate about supporting vulnerable residents, improving housing standards and helping to create safer, stronger communities.
I stood to be a councillor because I wanted to use both my professional experience and local knowledge to make a positive difference within the community. Having worked closely with residents facing housing difficulties and social challenges for many years, I wanted to help bring practical experience and a strong community focus into local decision making.
As Cabinet Member for Housing and Public Protection, I look forward to using my experience to support residents across the borough and help ensure people have access to safe, stable accommodation and well managed communities.
I live in Newcastle-under-Lyme and am proud to serve the community as a local councillor. Outside of work, I am a proud mum of two and someone who genuinely cares about making a positive difference for local people.”
