Recycling and waste
By properly using our waste and recycling systems you can much of your waste and increase the amount of reused and recycled products in our supply chain. Fewer products end up as litter and pollution and this helps biodiversity in the borough.
Residents
Please help us by:
- buying carefully creates less household rubbish and less rubbish at work. We need to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can of everything we buy. On average, people in the UK throw away their bodyweight in rubbish every seven weeks
- using our recycling and waste service and learn what you can recycle
- using our food waste system, instead of sending food waste to landfill
- subscribing to our garden waste service, instead of sending garden waste to landfill
- learning how to reduce and reuse the waste you produce such as electrical items
- for waste that is bulky or cannot be recycled conventionally, use the household waste recycling centre at Leycett
- for any clothes, books and other unwanted items tht are clean, please donate them at charity donation points and shops
Businesses
You can:
- subscribe to our business waste and recycling service to reduce your impact abd meet the Simpler Recycling requirements for businesses
- for other business waste you can recycle at the Leycett recycling centre for a small business charge
Visitors
Please help us by:
- using the public waste bins around the borough instead of littering
- aiming to use more reusable products whilst in the borough to reduce the waste you produce (for example, reusable coffee cups)
- avoiding investing in single use items whilst in the borough
