What a fixed penalty notice can be issued for

Fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is illegally dumped rubbish which can lead to a fine of up to £50,000 along with imprisonment.

We will investigate dumped rubbish and may serve a legal notice to landowners to clear rubbish that attracts or harbours vermin. Where we have sufficient evidence we will prosecute fly-tippers. Where dumped rubbish is on publically owned land we aim to remove as soon as possible, and will prioritise based on location, risk, ease of removal, and available resources.

A fixed penalty will only generally be offered where a small quantity of waste is fly-tipped, or waste has since been cleared by the offender. In all other cases we will prosecute.

Penalty

  • £350 if paid within 10 days
  • £400 if paid on day 11-14 after the penalty was issued
