What happens to your recycling and household rubbish
Tins, cans, clean foil (blue bin)
We collect these mixed together with plastic and glass in the bigger side of our recycling freighters. They are sorted at a materials recovery facility (MRF).
The steel can be used to make radiators, fridges, bridges and new food tins, or anything made from steel.
The aluminium can be made into aeroplanes, car engines, and new drink cans, or anything which needs aluminium.
Without recycling, more rock would be mined across the world to extract the minerals to make these products.
