It's important to tell us if the people living at your property change, as this could affect your Council Tax bill, discounts or exemptions.

If an adult is moving into your home, please notify us as soon as possible.
How to report a resident moving in
- Visit our Online Council Tax service.
- Select Moving.
- Select Someone has moved into my property.
- Follow the on-screen questions and provide the required information.

What happens next?
Your notification will be reviewed by our Customer Hub team. We may contact you if we need any additional information before updating your Council Tax account.
Someone has moved out of my property
If someone has left your household, including a partner, family member, tenant or lodger, please let us know.
How to report a resident moving out

What resident changes should I report?
You should tell us whenever an adult moves into or out of your property, even if they are a family member, partner, tenant or lodger.
Will a resident change affect my Council Tax bill?
Changes in household occupancy can affect discounts, exemptions and the amount of Council Tax you need to pay. For example, you may no longer be eligible for single person discounts if there is more than one adult at the property.
Do I need to tell you if a student moves in or out?
Yes. Any change in residency should be reported, including if the person moving in or out is a student.
What information will I need?
You may be asked to provide:
- The address affected
- The date the person moved in or out
- The name of the person involved
- Information about their circumstances if relevant to a discount or exemption
How long does it take to update my account?
Once submitted, your notification will be reviewed by our Customer Hub team and processed as soon as possible. If we need any additional information, we'll contact you.
Do I need to report a resident change if I'm also moving home?
No. If you're moving to a different property, please use the moving home process instead, as this will update your Council Tax account accordingly.
