Recycling, household rubbish and garden waste subscription collection policies

Collection points

Under Section 46 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Part 2) the Waste Collection Authority (Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council) has the power to say how and where household waste and other containers are presented for collection. Non-compliance is an offence under the Act.

The standard collection point for your containers will be at the point where your property meets the pavement. For many people this means that they put containers out at the end of their drive. If you live in an area of terraced properties, you are likely to have a collection point shared with your neighbours where the alley behind your property meets the pavement.

Food waste is always collected at the front of a property, rather than a shared collection point. If you have a shared collection point for household rubbish and recycling at the end of an alley, put your food waste caddy where the front of your property meets the pavement. If you have a front drive or path, put the caddy where your property meets the pavement.
